About
Hi, I'm Kendra.
I learned Spanish the way I now teach it: as a kid, by living in it. I went through Spanish immersion from kindergarten through 12th grade, then majored in Spanish at the University of Oregon, studied abroad in Mexico, and lived in several Spanish-speaking countries along the way.
I earned my Master's in Bilingual Education at UCLA and taught Spanish in Los Angeles public schools before moving home to Portland and teaching in Portland Public Schools. I've taught three-year-olds their first words and seniors prepping for the AP exam, and I honestly love both.
Now I'm a mom of two little ones, and I tutor a small number of families one on one. I keep my roster small on purpose so every child gets lessons built for them, and every parent gets a real update after each session.

How I teach
Spanish only, as early as possible, and always on purpose.
With little ones, I stay in Spanish and let the songs, puppets, and routines do the translating. Kids don't need every word explained; they need to hear it, move to it, and want more.
With school-age students, I work from their actual classroom material. Nothing I teach is extra. It's what they need this week, taught in a way that sticks.
With teens, I'm direct about how the test is scored and what a strong answer sounds like, and then we practice until it's natural.
Along the way
Spanish took me places.
